PreschoolLong day care for children between 3-6 years old
Our Preschool accommodates children between the ages of 3.5 years to 6 years old. This age group consists of two rooms: the Inventors (3.5 to 4.5 years old) and Adventurers (4.5 to 6 years old). The Preschool room differs slightly from other age groups with the inclusion of School Readiness and PreLit programs, and the two rooms are structured by the children’s future graduation dates.
One of the core aims of the Preschool age group is to prepare our children for their very first experience in their school years. We work closely with families and children to support them during this important transition period. School Readiness is delivered throughout the week as part of our day-to-day learning experiences.
The Preschool program is designed to cultivate core skills such as problem-solving, decision-making and creativity, as well as developing self-esteem, emotional stability and independence. We also encourage and assist children in developing their enthusiasm, curiosity and passion for learning through various activities based on children’s interests, feedback and strengths.
Lilypad Early Learning Centre is founded, built and licensed by a parent who has been through the child care system. Our child care centre is purpose-built with the aim of directly addressing key shortcomings of child care centres across Sydney. We take early education very seriously and strive to offer best child care services possible.
We’re proud in the things that set us apart, such as:
- Highly qualified, experienced educators
- Play-based learning with dedicated points of contact
- Fresh meals by our in-house chef
- Activities such as Zumba, dance and music classes
- Coding and language classes for our senior Preschool rooms
- Collaboration with the local community
- Bright, indoor play spaces
The first few days
During your child’s first few days, it is perfectly understandable for you to be keen to know how they are settling in. If you have any concerns or would just like to receive an update, you are welcome to visit or phone the centre at any time to check on your child’s progress.
We will do our best to settle your child in as quickly as possible, however if we feel that your child is too upset or distressed to stay all day, we will contact you with the suggestion to collect your child early.
To help your child settle in, we will conduct an orientation process to enable you to share important information on a one-to-one basis with the primary educators for your child.
This is important from an educational perspective as it also serves to ensure the smooth transition from home to the centre. Areas covered will be specific to your child, and may include cultural identity, nationality, religious beliefs, and routines or practices followed at home.
Information such as any fears held by your child, your living arrangements (e.g. they have a backyard) or their favourite pastimes may also be requested, as well as what goals and objectives you have for your child’s education and development while under our care.
To ensure your child’s wellbeing, we highly encourage you to speak with your child’s educators and the Centre Director to receive updates on their progress, relationship and experiences.
We are also available throughout the day over the phone or email. Here, you will find information such as what they’re currently learning, individual child journals, daily routines and observations. We also email out the “Lilypad Lowdown”, a fortnightly newsletter with updates, upcoming events and any other important information to all families.
Open door policy
Lilypad Early Learning Centre maintains an open door policy for our families. This means that families, extended family and friends are welcome to visit or call the Centre at any time during the day. However, we do ask that prior arrangements are made between the parent and Centre Director and identification is supplied.
How do we get started?
The best way to see if Lilypad is the right child care centre for your child is to come in and have a look for yourself.
The best way to do this is to book a free guided tour.
We’ll guide you around the centre, introduce your future educators and help you understand the day-to-day routines that your child will experience. This is also a great time to ask questions and raise any concerns you might have.
Our opening hours are from Monday to Friday, from 7am to 6pm.
